About Us
Our Backgrounds
We have worked with children, professionally, of varying ages over the past 10 years. Derek has worked for Rochester Public Schools in a high behavior setting and has spent the last 4 years as a Mental Health Practitioner working with students of varying disabilities who tend to be more violent to coach, model and prompt how the students respond to any heightened emotion they may encounter. Michelle has, with the help of Derek, created a successful in-home childcare attracting many children and families in need of care for their neurodivergent child who for varying reasons weren’t able to continue receiving childcare in a traditional center or in-home setting. Michelle went on to earn her Bachelor's in Special Education Teaching receiving a license as an Academic and Behavioral Strategist, focusing on the needs of the child and bridging the gap between traditional education and neurodiverse populations. To better serve her students, she furthered her education in Curriculum and Instruction by earning a Master's Degree to differentiate instruction to fit the diverse needs of students in today's world. Michelle's past four years have been spent working for Rochester Public Schools assisting in building a program for middle school students needing an Alternative Learning Environment to access their education.
How we got started
Our experiences in childcare and education guided us to create this huge need for families and children. The saying, "it takes a village" rings true with our company as we work hard to promote family engagement and ensuring each child and family has the proper therapies to reach their highest potential.
Our approach
Through a trauma-informed culturally responsive environment, Green Lily Behavioral Health prioritizes the mental and behavioral health of the family as a unit to give each member an opportunity to live their best life.
